Structural Engineering2026

Structural review unlocks a stalled town centre approval

Challenge

A retail and podium development in the Camden LGA was held at certification after the transfer structure and façade support details were queried by the certifier, putting the construction programme at risk.

Approach

DCES completed an independent structural review of the transfer beams, columns and connection details, re-ran load combinations against current code provisions and issued rationalised remedial detailing with a clear declaration pathway.

Outcome

Certification issues were closed out without redesign of the primary frame, reinforcement was rationalised across the podium, and the builder returned to programme within weeks rather than months.

Civil & Stormwater2026

Stormwater and OSD design approved without a request for information

Challenge

A South West Growth Area subdivision needed civil and drainage documentation that would satisfy council on first submission, after an earlier consultant package attracted repeated information requests.

Approach

Our civil team rebuilt the catchment model, sized on-site detention to council DCP requirements, coordinated levels with the road design and issued a fully referenced drainage and water quality package.

Outcome

The package was approved without a request for information, removing an assessment cycle from the programme and giving the client certainty on earthworks and drainage costs before tender.

Superintendent services steady a mixed-use precinct through construction

Challenge

A Liverpool mixed-use precinct faced variation pressure and unclear contract administration during the early construction phase, with the client exposed to cost creep and disputed claims.

Approach

DCES was appointed as superintendent, introducing disciplined progress claim assessment, variation review against the contract, structured site inspections and transparent monthly cost and programme reporting.

Outcome

Variation claims were assessed and resolved on evidence, the client had a single accountable point of contact through to practical completion, and handover documentation was complete at PC.
